We saw a void and decided to do something about it. Black Fitness Today (BFT) serves to change the culture toward health and fitness in the Black community, showcase those making an impact, and educate our audience on healthier living. We also serve to provide a platform for fitness + health professionals and enthusiasts who are otherwise overlooked by traditional fitness media.


Close the gap in health and fitness disparities in the African-American community by providing practical tools and resources to motivate, inspire and achieve optimal health for this generation and beyond.


Ilen BellIlen Bell is a Cleveland, Ohio native, and U.S. Army veteran. He is a doctoral student in Performance Psychology at Grand Canyon University, earned a Master’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania in Exercise Science and Health Promotion, and a Master’s degree from Full Sail University in Internet Marketing. Ilen is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and a Certified Personal Trainer, through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).






Lauren Bell

Lauren Bell is a Cleveland, Ohio native, marketing & PR professional, and is passionate about healthy living, as a certified Personal Fitness Chef through the Spencer Institute and a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She earned a Master of Arts in Management & Leadership from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from John Carroll University.
