Best Man Holiday Star Morris Chestnut on Getting Chiseled for Role

Morris Chestnut

It’s officially a box office hit. Many of us have already seen Best Man Holiday and felt the nostalgia from the original flick back in ’99.

It’s no secret that actor Morris Chestnut, who played the role of football star Lance Sullivan, was in great shape for the film. But the 44-year-old recently revealed how tough it was for him physically and emotionally to achieve director Malcolm Lee’s desire for an athlete-level physique.

“It was really challenging for me physically to have to be in great shape. And Malcolm said they wanted me to take my shirt off, and there were a couple of other explicit scenes that we didn’t get to shoot, so it was tough for me emotionally and physically because I really couldn’t eat. I lost a lot of weight for that movie just because I had to portray a football player that was still in shape.”

It can be difficult for all of us to break through barriers and this shows us that even as a Hollywood actor with an abundance of resources and tools that you still have to put in the work! But once you reach your goals, there is nothing more rewarding!

By the sounds we heard in the movie theater, it was obvious that Chestnut’s hard work paid off!
