Love is in the air this month and if you have someone special in your life, you may celebrating with a little extra romance. Sure, snuggling up to binge watch your favorite Netflix series or overindulging in sweet treats is alluring. But, be aware! Don’t allow your love life to destroy your fit life in 2016. Think outside the chocolate box! With a little creativity, you can come up with something fun, active, and healthy. Here are some ideas to get you going:


  • Work it Out

A couple that works out together, stays together! If you and your partner are both gym buffs, why not sweat together? Choose a workout program that is mutually beneficial. Afterwards, you can enjoy a post-workout snack at the smoothie shop or a local café. Bonus: create a workout playlist for the both of you to listen to with some sweat worthy beats.


  • Channel Your Inner Chef

Skip the fancy dinner reservations or tired takeout and take the opportunity to cook a meal together as a couple. Cooking at home is pocket-friendly and a great way to spend quality time with one another. Not to mention, food prepared with love just tastes better. Pick out a healthy recipe together and get to work. You can never go wrong with a meal packed with quality protein and veggies. We love a simple surf and turf recipe. And while you’re cooking, treat yourself to the heart-healthy benefits a nice glass of red wine.


  • Pedal or Walk Around Town

This is your chance to be a tourist in your own city! If it’s not too cold out, hop on a couple of cruisers and pedal through your city’s most precious sights and scenes, or go at it on foot (wear some comfy shoes!) You will be enjoying each other’s company so much that you won’t notice that you are getting in a good workout. End the adventure with a little romance by preparing a brown bag lunch for you and your loved one.


  • Relax a Little

What better way to unwind from an active week with a couples massage. Book an appointment at a local spa. Don’t worry if you are low on cash! Purchase some body lotions or oils and treat your love to a back rub that will melt the stress away without melting your checking account away. This is an excellent way to relax and show each other you care.


  •    Jump for Joy

Trampoline parks, like SkyZone, are popping up all over the country. This is your chance to let your inner child run wild! Bounce around, do a flip, and test out those old skills. Prices generally run around $15.00 for a one hour jump. If it’s date night, go for an evening jump time to avoid the younger crowd.
