My name is Kiah Douglas I’m a 22 year personal trainer in Perrysburg, OH. As a child I had a competitive attitude. I was the tomboy of the neighborhood and always played with the boys from basketball to foot races on the street. I had a drive to be the best that I could be. One particular incident had me on my knees and down for the count . I tore my ACL and meniscus the end of my junior year of high school playing basketball. That was a devastating period for me, it seems as if all my hard work from when I was a wild headed tomboy was sucked up by a tornado and immediately vanished into thin air. College recruiters who were once interested quickly shied away. That only fueled the fire to make me work extremely hard in and out of physical therapy and ultimately overcame my injury.
I eventually, received a scholarship to run at a mid major University (University of Toledo). Freshman I placed 3rd in the conference, went to NCAA and placed 27th when I was ranked 49th on the East Coast, went to USA Junior Nationals and placed 11th. All of this happened a year after my ACL recovery, you can’t tell me God isn’t GREAT! Sometimes you have to go through the valley to make it up on the mountain.
Now I compete as a NPC Bikini competitor and had a nice showing at my show this past October placing 2nd. My goal is to become pro within the next year. A healthy body is more than looks; it gives me confidence, high- esteem, and the courage to inspire others who want to live a healthy lifestyle as well. Whether someone is my client or not my purpose as a personal trainer is to improve and empower everyone I have an encounter with. It brings a smile to my face knowing I helped someone feel better about their image.
I want to be the person to help ignite the fire and passion in someone who’s fire is no longer burning. One door may close, but many more can open up. Work ethic and determination along with hard work are key elements to success! I want to inspire people. I want someone to say I almost gave up, but after reading your story I got back on my feet and decided I came to far too give up or give in.
