Love and Hip Hop’s Healthier Somaya

If you haven’t already heard, Somaya Reece of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop is enjoying her new body. Reece recently dropped more than 20 pounds and is living a healthier lifestyle.

How did she do it? By adopting permanent lifestyle changes, including clean eating and exercise, rather than fad diets, to achieve her goals. She has some great information to share. Check out her video entitled “Weight loss tips that work (protein shakes and eating habits).”

Ilen & Lauren Bell are the husband and wife team behind Black Fitness Today, born, in 2011, out of their motivation to change culture, build a platform and lead the charge. They also aim to serve as a platform for African-American fitness and health professionals and enthusiasts who are otherwise overlooked in traditional fitness media.

Saleemah E. Knight is elevating the world of dance and grabbing the attention of entertainers everywhere. The choreographer, instructor and performer has a wide range of experience, from being a featured dancer in The Lion King Broadway musical, to performing with superstars such as Beyonce, Chris Brown, Jamie Foxx, Tyrese and more.

As a Professor of Jazz Dance at University of Southern California’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, and master instructor worldwide, Knight is known for crossing boundaries and blending styles through her training in ballet, concert jazz dance and modern dance techniques. Black Fitness Today caught up with Knight to discuss more about how she serving as a leader in the industry, and she shares some great insight on how dance is being used to address the social issues of today.
