Ilen & Lauren Bell - Founders of Black Fitness Today

It all started with an idea in a notebook in 2011. A desire to break the cycle of chronic disease and conditions in our own families, and see more platforms that actually represent us as African-Americans.

There’s not a whole lot that separates us from you. We’re real people on a real, daily journey to optimal health. That road is filled with ups and downs, successes and failures. But, we have decided to put the task of changing culture, building a platform and leading the charge on our backs and we won’t stop until (and not even then) we see real change in our communities and in our policies.

What you’ll find on is a platform full of content from workout tips, to motivation, to chats with celebrities we’ve talked to, transformations, recipes and more. As we continue to grow, we want this platform to be a collective of knowledge-sharing by all of us. Submit your articles. Join our community where you can connect with other health and fitness-minded people. Hit us up on social media. What you won’t find is is another fitness platform for the Black community that’s for everyone – from the bodybuilder to the Yogi, to the busy parent who just wants to have more energy to keep up with their kiddos – we believe that the picture of fitness can look different for everyone.

So welcome to Black Fitness Today – a platform with you in mind. Let’s be the change we want to see, together.

Yours in fitness,

Ilen (eye-len) & Lauren

Ilen & Lauren Bell are the husband and wife team behind Black Fitness Today, born, in 2011, out of their motivation to change culture, build a platform and lead the charge. Their purpose is to help change the culture towards health and fitness in the African-American community, showcase those who are making an impact, and promote healthier living. They also aim to serve as a platform for African-American fitness and health professionals and enthusiasts who are otherwise overlooked in traditional fitness media.
