3 Keys to Self-Improvement and Motivation

What are the three keys to self-improvement and motivation?

1. INSPIRATION

Inspiration is critical to staying motivated and improving oneself. If you are not interested in improving, your motivation level will never rise and you will remain the same.

Take an honest look at your inspiration level. Are you excited about improving your health and fitness? You would be surprised at the number of people who go days, months and even years without exercising.

People who choose to neglect their health and fitness eventually grow weary and uninterested in themselves and others around them because they have no inspiration or passion to improve themselves.

If you do not like what you see in the mirror, then think of what it is that you truly dislike about what you see.  Once you discover what it is that you dislike and why, then turn your focus towards creating a plan to become the person you want to see in the mirror. When you want to give up and return to the person that you do not like to in the mirror, remember why you want to change, because that is where you find inspiration.  Where there is no inspiration, there is no motivation, and without inspiration and motivation, there can be no self-improvement.

2. SETTING GOALS

Short and long-term goal setting is vital for any health and fitness goal. If you do not set goals, you will have no definite purpose on which path of self-improvement to take.

How could you possibly be motivated if you do not know the direction in which you are going?

Take the time to put your goals in writing. Creating a plan may sound daunting, but it is really nothing more than writing down your goals, how you plan to carry out your goals and when you plan to meet them. Write your plan and update it every time you reach a short-term goal.

Include mini-goals that can be accomplished in a matter of days or weeks as well as the more ambitious grand-goals that may take a few months or a year to complete. Refer to this plan often to make sure you are sticking to it.

3. FRIENDS

Another key factor in getting and staying motivated is finding people or friends who will keep you accountable.  Everyone needs help at some point in the lives.  One of the best things that you can do to increase the chances of achieving your health and fitness goals is to find a workout partner.

Working out alone is of one the most difficult parts things to do when starting a workout plan.  Mutual support is motivating.
Make it easier on yourself by exercising with friends and family.  You never know, your friend or family member may want to begin exercising and by you asking them to exercise with you may be just the motivation that they need. Many people will agree that finding a workout partner is the only reason they did not return to the person that they did not like to see in the mirror.

Sharing your goals, and experience with others is an invaluable aspect of motivation and self-improvement.
Working with a partner will help re-energize you when the achieving your goals seem impossible.

With a partner to help you stay accountable, you can do more in less time and probably have more fun in the process. You will feel more motivated to achieve your goals than if you were working alone.
