Dr. Ian Smith - SHRED Diet

Dr. Ian K. Smith is solving many of dieting’s biggest dilemmas through his popular SHRED diet. The first book in the SHRED series, SHRED: The Revolutionary Diet and follow-up SUPER SHRED: The Big Results Diet, published in 2012 and 2013, respectfully, have “shredders” taking to social media to discuss their various weight loss results. So what is the SHRED diet?

The SHRED diet is a combination of a low GI (glycemic index) diet, meal spacing and meal replacements.  Here’s the best part of the diet: you will be constantly eating. Yes, I said constantly.  It requires shredders to eat four meals or meal replacements, such as soups, smoothies and shakes. Along with the four meal and or meal replacements, shredders can eat three snacks a day throughout the six-week program. The book states that shredders can lose four inches and two sizes all within six weeks.

What makes this diet different? This diet is about reshaping your body via diet confusion.  SHRED is modeled after the strategy called muscle confusion, which helps break you through plateaus of muscle growth.

Throughout the six-week period, the diet consists of different components:

Week 1: Prime. The first week is your introduction to the diet and help adapt your body to the lifestyle change.

Week 2: Challenge. During the second week, you are now getting serious about reducing your calorie intake.

Week 3: Transformation. You will start noticing a difference in how you look and feel.

Week 4: Ascend. Use this week to rebuild strength and gain confidence.

Week 5: Cleanse.This week you being a detox, which allows cleansing of your blood and eliminating toxins from your body.

Week 6: Explode. In the final week, you have established a new lifestyle that you can maintain for a lifetime.

Once you finish week six, you can celebrate but not for too long, as Dr. Ian helps you extend your hard-earned results by kicking it up another notch with “SUPER SHRED…a four-week super-charged program that shares the same principles—meal spacing, snacking, meal replacement, and diet confusion—as SHRED—with twice the intensity and a shorter quick-acting plan. It can be used on its own or in conjunction with SHRED.”

How Many Calories Should I Be Eating? (Formula)

Here’s the formula ⬇️ EXAMPLE

Your WEIGHT ( 300 pounds ) multiply by 14. = ( 4,200 calories ) That will get you your TOTAL MAINTENANCE CALORIES.
Then.

Your MAINTENANCE CALORIE multiply by .25
4,200 calories x .25 = 1,050

Then.

Your MAINTENANCE CALORIE 4,200 subtract 1,050 = 3,150 calories.

3,150 would be your calorie goal

Depending on your workout intensity and job you can lower the deficit % the harder you work the more your body needs!
Now just plug in your weight and try it yourself !

I’m a firm believer in always staying prepared ! Why ? Because if I’m hungry I won’t end up eating fast food or something I know I shouldn’t be having. My suggestion is prepare your food for 2 Days that way it stays fresh 👍🏻 consistency is key and if you want to reach your goals, it’s going to take disciple.
